Bible Study meets each Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with some exceptions during Advent and Lent. Books of the Bible or topics related to discipleship are explored. Faith on Tap meets on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday at 6:00pm at Marzoni's (1830 E Pleasant Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602) for a time of fellowship and study. Sunday School for All Ages takes place at 10:30am, following Sunday Worship. All are welcome. Choir Congregation members use their musical gifts to provide anthems, solos, and ensembles during worship. We have rehearsal after Sunday worship, excluding the summer months. All and any musical talents are welcome. Worship Helpers Congregation members use their gifts in a variety of ways to support the worship life of Bethany. Ushers (those who collect weekly offering), Lectors (those who read the lessons for the day), Bell Ringers (those who ring the bell to signal that worship will soon begin), Worship Assistants (those who assist the pastor during worship with the reading of the prayers and distribution of Communion) Anyone who desires to use their gifts is welcome. Love Feast & Clothing Bank On the 4th Saturday of every month, we host a love feast meal in our basement fellowship hall (11am-12:30pm). During that time, we will also be having our clothing bank open. Clothing bank is also open, by appointment outside of those times. |
Quilting Group
The Quilters meet each Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in the lower level fellowship hall. They make tied quilts to send overseas through Lutheran World Federation as well as donations to the local shelters, nursing homes, and community projects. The Quilters host Bethany’s annual bazaar each November. Anyone who sews or would like to learn is welcome. Boy Scouts of America Bethany supports both a cub scout pack and a boy scout troop through Boy Scouts of America. Troop and Pack 3015 is one of the oldest troops/packs in the Laurel Highlands Conference and just added an official girls troop and pack in 2018 (Troop 5015). Our packs and troops have respective dens and units for boys and girls. Any boy or girl aged 5 and over is welcome to join. Scouts builds leadership, fitness, and survival skills. For more information, contact Don Irvin at 946-3808. School Supply Giveaway At the beginning of the school year, we support and raise supplies for students at our local school district. These are handed out to any student who comes to our August Love Feast event. Other assorted school supplies are also shared with our neighboring elementary school. Food Drives Bethany also supports local food bank and Backpack program through various food drives, held at various times throughout the year. |
